BUSINESS ENTERPRISE | THE LINK The big BANG!
It cannot be said that inventing is a staid profession but even Caractacus Potts would be amazed at the scope of innovation and production that bubbles up from the spring of creativity that is Bang Creations. Be it toy-making or furniture design their ideas challenge and push the boundaries of ingenuity well outside the jack-in-a-box.
Bang Creations is based in Haslemere. They invent, design and deliver toys that are original, exciting, and entirely focused on their target market. In addition they are developing their own line in novelty furniture, as well as working on the invention, design and production of a number of other products. Bang Creations is able to operate this diverse portfolio of product development through forging relationships with designers, model makers and engineers across the globe and has firm roots in the product design industry.
Since setting up Bang Creations in 1999, Stefan Knox, who runs the company along with his wife Kirstin, has had associations with big names such as Hasbro, Vivid Imagination, Honda, Electrolux, Psion Computers and Autosafe, as well as realising his long-term goal to run his own business. Stefan, Kirstin and their team specialise in coming up with clever design solutions that add magic to any brief. This is known as ‘adding the bang’ and a swift look at their website will illustrate the plethora of successful ideas and solutions that they have engineered. Of their products, there are one or two that particularly sum up their raison d’etre.
LoJo™ is a brand new product of their own invention. This ‘bean-bag’ of the 21st century is a ‘pod’ with an inflatable back, and a seat filled with beans and stuffing. It can be used as a seat, footstool and chair and is the ideal size and shape for any living space. This newly patented product will be available for purchase by the middle of June through a website, www.LoJoball.com, and small bespoke retailers.
Stefan sums up his unique business saying: “We have the ability to take concepts, (ours and other people’s), from thin air to the production line.
“Nothing is more important to us than seeing innovative products on the shelves”
