Lojoball from Bang Creations

LoJo Journey

We are lucky. For the last 15 years we have had fun inventing products and concepts for a wide variety of companies from the toy to the IT industry. In 2003 we founded the product design agency, Bang Creations Ltd.

We pride ourselves on being able to add that extra and unique something that makes a product special – the ‘Bang’ if you will.

As a team we decided to create the LoJo brand and for it to represent a journey.

Our aim is to work with inspirational people creating unique products that enhance people’s lives and make them smile. We also aim to enjoy this process. LoJo is all about ‘LOving the JOurney”.

The journey began in September 2007 when, in order to counsel industry opinion, we launched the LoJo Ball as part of London Design Week.

They liked it so we booked stands at Grand Designs exhibitions to see what the public thought.

During the exhibition we experimented changing the price point, the story and why you would want and use one to see if and how opinions changed. It became clear that almost irrespective of price and story, once a visitor sat in a LoJo Ball, they became a customer. Many of these early customers keep in touch with us now.

The trade wanted to stock our product, but we held back wanting to ensure the product was ready. We continued to test the market directly and to follow up sales finding out how the product was being used, how well it lasted and what we could be done better. As a result, the design was further developed and we even created an outdoor range and bespoke designs for customers.

Once we were ready to see if the trade agreed with our customers, we exhibited in Pulse in 2008. We were awarded “Best New Product” in the home category as judged by Alice Delmar-Morgan from Conran Shop Paris who said “ Innovative design, comes in a flat pack and the price point is amazing. The concept is fantastic – a really well thought out product. I was highly impressed” –.

We were even asked if we wished to join the European design group and showcase our concept in the “NOW” hall in Maison et Object in January 2008. It was fantastic. Our first trade customers were established on the continent as were flagship UK stores such as Selfridges Concept Zone.

The LoJo Ball has since featured on television in Germany, France, Holland and even Russia. In the UK it first appeared on the Richard and Judy book Club and, recently, on BBC2 in Sir Alan Sugar’s The Apprentice.

We are now showcasing our new design segment “LoJo London” at Pulse 2009. It consists of vintage styled LoJo Balls with design elements from the city we love and grew up in, from where our journey started and from where it continues.
